LGPC was nominated by the Municipality of Balasan to participate in the MoRProGRes Gardens Contest of the Province of Iloilo. In line with this, Dr. Ariel Reckonette B. Villanueva, LGPC VSS, and Mr. Adones B. Baldevarona, Asst. Professor I, attended the orientation on the guidelines and mechanics of the contest at Casa Real in Iloilo Provincial Capitol on March 6, 2023.
The MoRProGRes Gardens contest is open to all individuals, groups, cooperatives, institutions, private/business sectors and those with interest for Agri-Tourism development in the Province of Iloilo. The contest is classified into several categories such as LGU: Municipal and Barangay; Academic and Technical Education Institutions; and Private/Business Sector/NGO/Cooperative/Association. LGPC will compete against private colleges, universities and SUCs in the province.
The MoRProGRes Gardens shall incorporate the production of high-value crops for food security, blending ornamental gardening and landscaping for agri-tourism and using of recycled/upcycled materials as climates change response.
The orientation was led by the Honorable Governor of Iloilo, Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. who really took the time to discuss the objectives in detail and answered questions from the hundreds of participants from all over the province of Iloilo who attended.
