LGPC conducts 1st Pinning Ceremony

Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of its diploma students in Hotel and Restaurant Services Technology with its first Pinning Ceremony conducted on May 15, 2025, Thursday afternoon, at the school’s gymnasium.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Danielle Thor Sarabia, HRST Tourism Sector President, who addressed the guests and parents and emphasized the importance of the event for the students, he stated,

“This event is no ordinary one, as this encapsulates every single experience that a student has to go through in their entire stay in this institution. Symbolically, the pin shares a story, a representation of our identity, and emblem of our hard work and perseverance as students of Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College. As we head into becoming the person we want to be, may this symbolic pin remind us to forever be grateful for how LGPC  is trying its very best to make us the best version  of ourselves.”

 Following the welcome message, Mrs. Josefina B. Arellano, Vocational Instruction Supervisor II, delivered an important message to all the attendees.

 “This pinning ceremony symbolizes your commitment. It symbolizes a certain transition in your academic journey. I believe your pins will symbolize your commitment to finish your studies. To endeavor. To excel in what you have chosen. This is your commitment and will always be a reminder that LGPC is your school.  Congratulations HRST students, [and] may this occasion always be in your heart to ignite your innermost desire to excel in this qualification. ”

The ceremony also featured Dr. Mary Jean S. Zaldarriaga, Tourism Department Chairperson of NISU Victorino Salcedo Campus, as the guest speaker, who shared her valuable insights on the topic “On-the-Job Training Etiquettes for Tertiary Students: A Guide to Professional Behavior During OJT”, preparing  the students for their future roles in the industry.

The highlight of the event was the Pinning of the Name Plate, where the 1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd year students marched down the red carpet to officially receive their pins, starting with the HRST 1-A and HRST 1-B; followed by the HRST 2-A, HRST 2-B, HRST 2-C, HRST 2-D, HRST 2-E and HRST 2-F; and lastly, the HRST 3-A and HRST 3-B.

To close the program, Mr. Seth Maiou V. Barboza, HRST Tourism Sector Vice President, reflected on the significance of the day. 

“Today we celebrate not just an accomplishment but the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and passion. The pins you received today are not just adornments; they are symbols of your commitment to excellence. As you embark on this exciting new chapter, remember the values instilled within you. Embrace the challenges ahead with courage and creativity. Never stop learning. Never cease striving for excellence. And always remember the importance of treating every guest with respect. Your ability to adapt, innovate, and lead will be essential to your success. Continue to hone your skills, embrace new technologies and never underestimate the power of a genuine smile and exceptional service.”

Mr. Barboza also expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the HRST students to the people who made the program possible, giving special mention to Dr. Ariel Reckonette B. Villanueva, VSS I, and Mrs. Arellano for their support, as well as to their adviser, Mr. Jesus F. Sausa, Assistant Professor III, who played a pivotal role in the success of the ceremony.

The first Pinning Ceremony at Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College established an institutional event that not only celebrates the achievements of the students but also inspires them to embrace their future in the hospitality industry with confidence and dedication.
