LGPC conducts Community-Based Training at Brgy. Santiago, Barotac Viejo

In collaboration with the BLGU-Santiago and the Philippine Army, Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College conducted a Community-Based Training Program in Food Processing at Brgy. Santiago, Barotac Viejo, February 19-23, 2025.

The five-day training was part of the school’s Community Outreach Program, Pag-ulikid, and was conducted as per the request of the Asosayon ng Mangingisda ng Santiago (AMS) and the Philippine Army during the previously held Peace Consultation Dialogue.

The training was conducted by Mrs. Cheryl D. Agura, Instructor II, together with Mrs. Joeselle C. Singson, Assistant Professor I, who lectured the participants on various topics in food processing, namely: food preservation, measurements and equivalents, personal hygiene, good practices in the kitchen, and packaging and labeling.

The Culminating Activity was conducted on the last day of the training where the trainees showcased their skills, gave their feedbacks, and received their Certificate of Completion and those who excelled were presented as Skills Awardees.

Dr. Ariel Reckonette B. Villanueva, VSS I of LGPC, attended the aforementioned activity and imparted his message to the trainees; Mr. Rene B. Agsaluna, MTI of Santiago Elementary School likewise conveyed his thoughts on the training.

Furthermore, Hon. Romeo B. Agsaluna, Punong Barangay of Santiago, also attended together with the rest of the barangay officials, and welcomed everyone to the program; on the other hand, the Philippine Army was represented by 2LT Rexel Batuigas and 1LT John Michael Andales, with the former concluding the program with his closing remarks.

To end the day, everyone enjoyed a kamayan feast – sharing the trainees’ fruits of labor and savoring the Papaya Pickles and Crispy Sweet & Spicy Dilis among all the other products produced from their training in Food Production.
