LGPC conducts TDC in partnership with NISU-VSC

Conducted as part of its community outreach program, Pag-Ulikid, Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College conducts the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) at Northern Iloilo State University-Victorino Salcedo Campus, Sara, Iloilo, February 11-13, 2025.

The opening of the said training was attended by Dr. Raffy B. Chavez, NISU-VSC Campus Administrator; Atty. Joel Artajo, representative of Cong. Boboy Tupas and BM Binky April Tupas; Prof. April Blass Dela Cruz, NISU-VSC NSTP Coordinator; Mr. Michael Zipagan of Ritz Driving School; and Mr. Jesus F. Sausa, Asst. Prof. III together with Ms. Sherlene Alasian, Asst. Prof II. of LGPC.

“This is our intervention or a bridging activity so that we can comply with the requirements.” Dr. Chavez, remarked, he added, “This is in partnership with LGPC-TESDA and coordinated through the office of Cong. Raul “Boboy” C. Tupas and BM Binky April M. Tupas”.

Following the message of Dr. Chavez, Atty. Artajo stressed the need to learn basic traffic rules and basic driving works as one wrong move might cost one’s life and the lives of others, he said, “I cannot emphasize more the importance of basic information, especially traffic rules”.

Ms. Alasian, as the designated Career Guidance Advocate of LGPC also shared her thoughts, “Knowing that we were going to have our extension program in NISU, I am personally happy to be with you [here today]. This is another accomplishment of our school and this is also your privilege, to know the road rules”, she added, “It does not mean that we only know how to drive but do not know how to defend our lives”.

To enlighten the participants, Prof. Dela Cruz introduced the content of the TDC, where the first two days will consist of a lecture on Traffic Rules and Regulations, while the last day will focus on the examination and uploading of names on the LTO portal.

“It is our aim to train the students, faculty, and staff in compliance with the LTO Memorandum Circular (MC) 2019-2176. This is to avoid the loss of life and property.” – Prof. Dela Cruz

The TDC was joined by more or less 400 members of the student body along with the faculty and staff of NISU-VSC – taking on the 15-hour long lecture in a journey to acquire their driver’s license and be law-abiding citizens of the country.

With good intentions and to inspire the trainees, they were challenged to either perfect the exam or place in the Top 50 of the assessment to receive further assistance in their application for the license, because as Mr. Sausa emphasized, the most important thing to have to finish the course is:

             “Dapat dako inyo…DETERMININASYON”
