LGPC hosts 4th Grand Alumni Homecoming

DECEMBER 30, 2024 – Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College opens up its embrace for the 28 Alumni batches joining the Balik Maya 4th Grand Alumni Homecoming, with the tagline: “Mabalik gid ako sa Maya”.

One of the school’s greatest prides, Joe P. Bantiling, President and CEO of Trends and Concept Total Interior Solutions, Inc., attended the event as a proud alumnus and as the Guest of Honor.

 In his message, he mentioned his hope to see everyone reminisce their high school life, and to listen and share stories with former classmates and friends. “It has been several years since I left our town to pursue my dreams. My journey is not easy but it is all worth it.”

“The gathering of familiar faces, the recollection of the challenges of past memories, the challenges and goals together were aimed at before drifting apart; yes, this is definitely an event where every person goes to relive the “Glory Days” within their beloved Alma Mater and rekindle the bliss of once being a student.”Mrs. Arlene O. Golingan, President, 4th LGPC Alumni Association.

Giving also their message were Hon. Filomeno V. Ganzon, Balasan Municipal Mayor, and Dr. Ariel Reckonette B. Villanueva, Vocational School Superintendent I, who eagerly welcomed everyone to the homecoming as part also of the alumni.

“Indeed, things have changed; LGPC is now into the provision of quality and relevant TVET and is aiming to become the leading polytechnic college in agriculture and tourism sectors in the region.” Dr. Ariel mentioned, he added, “Nevertheless, I appeal for your individual and collective help in making the vision of our alma mater a reality. After all, all of us were part of this institution once upon a time. Let us look back how we were once and how our alma mater helped us to become what we are today.”

Among the 28 batches, LGPC welcomed the alumni of Balasan Junior High School, Balasan High School, Leon Ganzon Memorial High School and Leon Ganzon National High School, who were graduates of the year: 1966, 1967, 1968, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2008, and 2012.

The 4th Grand Alumni Homecoming consisted of a two-part event wherein the Registration, Mass, Caravan, Opening Program, Campus Lunch, Pag Handuraw sa Kina-adman, Business Meeting, and the 2nd and Last Canvassing for the Alumni King and Queen 2024 were held in the morning and afternoon; on the other hand, the Oath Taking Ceremony of 2025-2027 LGPC Alumni Officers and the 2024 Balik Maya Coronation Night were held in the evening, with a Binayle and Live Band thrown in to the mix to liven up the latter part of the program.  

The 2024 Balik Maya Coronation Night was especially met with enthusiasm as the alumni of each batches cheered on their representatives during the Entrance of the Royal Court; the royalties composing of:

            The Alumni King Manuel Vincent Espinosa and Alumni Queen Anelyn T. Lopez of Batch 1985; the 1st Prince Rony Ballener and 1st Princess Nenita Bisnar of Batch 1981; and the 2nd Prince Benjie Gabo and 2nd Princess Corazon Intila Lanila of Batch 2002.

Given recognition during the program were also the former personnel of LGPC, who with their dedication and service guided the students through their goals and in the realization of their dreams.

            Prior to the 4th Grand Alumni Homecoming Program, two separate events were held where the registered batches marched with their banners and with pride hoisted them up high during the Hanging of Batch Banners on November 29, 2024 and December 13, 2024, respectively.

To make the homecoming grander and more fruitful, Dr. Villanueva introduced the Alumni Hall project as a partnership between LGPC and the graduates of Balasan High School, Leon Ganzon Memorial High School, Leon Ganzon National High School and Leon Ganzon Polytechnic College.

            With staggering pledges and donations from the alumni, it will not be so far off in the future when the Alumni Hall will be functional in hosting alumni-related activities and in housing important memorabilia; additionally serving as laboratory for classes and a venue for events as part of LGPC’s Income Generating Project (IGP).
